Artist Statement
My artwork is a record of my search for meaning; a chronology of my inner and outer journeys. My primary focus is on landscapes, and I often use photography as inspiration for works in mediums such as drawings and prints. Spirituality and science have been interests of mine for most of my life. I was always interested in nature, and in the night sky particularly, and I took many camping trips when I was young. I came to understand the world as living energy moving through space and time. I use nature as a metaphor for both science and spirituality, or to be more specific, for physics and metaphysics. I take what’s inside and what’s in the world around me, then try to arrange and present it in a way that is meaningful and dramatic. To not only represent reality, but re-present it, prompting the viewer to perceive something in a unique or unusual way for the first time; a new discovery. This is my approach to making art. I hope that when you look at the work, you experience the same joy that I had creating it!
